WHY IS THIS WATCH SPECIAL
This particular Zenith houses a high grade caliber 2532 PC, manufactured only for a 3 years period (1963 to 1966), only 72.000 movements were made.
1964 was the year of the launching of the AutoSport model.
In the very first months of the AutoSport production, Zenith fitted this high grade caliber in the AutoSport, later it was replaced by the 2562 PC, these later and widely produced models are easily recognisable by the date placed between 4 and 5 Hrs.
This specific timepiece in exceptionnal original condition has its date displayed at 3 o'clock.
The AutoSport was, by among other it's movement, designed to be an upgraded luxury version of the Sporto range that however continued to be produced for many decades.
Not only 99% of the AutoSport you can find are the later model with the date between 4 and 5 Hrs but to spot one whith this particular dial, featuring silver markers, not to mention the pristine condition, you probably won't ever.
This is a one in a lifetime opportunity.
THE STORY
Today when one thinks of a vintage Zenith, the first thing that comes to mind is the El Primero chronographs. But other than its chronograph pieces, Zenith was also busy creating other sports models, taking cues from 1960s and 1970s design. This example is another creation by the manufacturer that is simply a workhorse type piece perfect for everyday wear. The 'Calatrava' overall design is very elegant and timeless.
